Queer is Sacred.

Trans is Sacred.

You are Sacred.

As LGBTTSQIA folks, we need places where we can be honored. Valued. Safe. Without having to justify, defend, or explain our identities and way of being. Where someone can understand the ongoing trauma of oppression that comes from just existing as a QT person in this society. Who can understand the life-affirming importance of QT spaces, books, and history. Of affirming healthcare. Of chosen family. Who understands that although you’ve found community, you still can feel alone. That Pride was a Revolution built with the lives, labor, and spirit of QTBIPOC and QT disabled ancestors. That our community spaces must be liberation focused and intersectional – and yet often are not.

Who understands the deep need for belonging – and the harm that comes from being pathologized and excluded. From family. Spiritual spaces. Culture. From your own QT community.

You belong here.

Issues Facing LGBTQ Communities

Many people who identify as within the rainbow of LGBQA & TGNC identities are deeply impacted by the trauma of ongoing oppression. Governments are passing more and more restrictive laws against us, there is rising hate violence, and ongoing, pervasive censorship. Just for being our own sacred selves.

Additionally, horizontal oppression and lack of intersectionality have fractured our communities. You may feel isolated from your own QT communities because of white supremacy, ableism, and other types of oppression that run through their foundations. Instead of finding belonging, you may feel you have to mask and assimilate to fit in.

Additionally, you may struggle with your inherited cultural beliefs and norms around gender, sexuality, and relationships. Instead of feeling free to bring your partner home to your family, you risk rejection, judgement, even condemnation. It feels like you have to choose between your family, culture, partner, and your future life.

LGBTQ Therapy in Berkeley and the SF Bay Area

LGBTQ therapy can offer you a place to belong, let go, and do that deeper healing work. To bring that rich, sacred heart of yours all the love and care you deserve – that you have always deserved.

I can understand the often complex and layered issues that play out in our communities. How the impact of legacies of & present-day oppression affects individuals, relationships, and families. We’ll work together to unpack these layers and heal the impact on you and your life. Through doing this work, you’ll be able to identify and heal from the many layers of oppression that come with being queer and/or trans. No matter how subtle or huge they may be.

My Approach to LGBTQ Therapy

I’ll support you in reclaiming your power, dignity, and worth from all those who seek to take it. We’ll work to understand what blocks you from creating the life for which you long. At the same time, I’ll support you in creating it. And most importantly, I’ll support you in healing that sacred, tender heart of yours.

Therapy doesn’t have to be patriarchal, cis, straight, or oppressive. I bring my skill sets, wisdom, theories, technique, and decades of practice. However, you bring the ultimate knowledge and wisdom of yourself and your life. Together, we embark on the sacred journey of your healing. We can talk, listen to music, make art, heal from white supremacy and colonization, practice ritual, explore embodied movement practices, smash the patriarchy, reclaim your power, and connect with the earth. We can make this space what you need it to be.
