New Year, New Practice: Weekly HSP Healing Arts Prompt

As this year closes, we are living through profound violence and suffering in this world. Many of us feel heart-broken, enraged, and helpless witnessing the multiple genocides around the world. Additionally, the devastation of colonization, imperialism, white supremacy, capitalism, and the resulting climate change, is affecting everyone.

This new year has an opportunity to bring great change - internally and externally. We are living through a global uprising calling for life-affirming liberation and reparations, for accountability and healing. We are also living in a time that understands that calling for justice is the only way to grow the seeds of peace.

Throughout this new year, I'll be posting weekly healing arts prompts to help support you on your journey. They will be short invitations to reflect on what you are living through and with in this new year. To remind yourself of your voice, your power. Reconnect you to your sense of aliveness, healing, and spirit. Make space for grief. Honor the lightening wisdom of anger. To plant the seeds of joy, through liberation.

New Year, New Practice: Prompt

Today, as we transition in to this new year, I invite you to engage in any art practice that speaks to you - painting, singing, creative writing, photography, dance, performance, and more. I invite you to explore and be with the following prompts:

  • What sacred wisdoms have grief and rage brought to light within me this year?

  • What sacared nourishment has darkness offered me through the year?

  • What sparks of joy and pleasure have I allowed myself this year?

  • What does an embodied, action-led practice of hope look like for the new year?

You may wish to explore all of them, or only one. As part of this new year practice, give yourself whatever time you need and actually have. It can be just as powerful to do a one minute painting, as to write for an hour. Honor your capacity. Trust your process. New year, new practice.

As always, if you would like support on your healing journey as a joyful, radical empath, intuitive, or highly sensitive person, I am here for you. Please feel welcome to reach out. As a queer, enby, empath, and highly sensitive therapist, I deeply understand the challenges of this journey. I would be honored to support you.

In Healing,

Phoenix
